This past weekend was off to a good start when I was able to photograph Lardarius Webb’s charity bowling event. For those who may not know, he is one of the Baltimore Ravens. It was a neat experience in that I was able to interact with Baltimore Ravens and others in the industry. It was pretty priceless.
Then, the weekend took a drastic turn. I woke up Saturday morning to a phone call from a good friend of mine. He said that our friend Justin is in the hospital and he may not make it through the night. I was told to go see him because I may not get another chance. The reality didn’t really hit me until I made it to the hospital.
I visited my friend Justin in the hospital room, and he looked like a completely different person. Of course, I wasn’t used to the tubes and machines that surrounded him. He was able to interact by moving his head and hands, so it was calming to know that I would be able to speak with him and he could understand me.
Everyone at the hospital who was there for Justin talked to him one last time. Later on that evening, we lost him. The whole waiting room was in tears after losing such a great person.
Justin was an amazing person to everyone who knew him. He loved his friends and his family and it was evident. He was newly married and extremely happy.
I just want to take the time to say rest in peace Justin. We love you, we miss you, and we will be seeing you again someday. Watch over us until then.
