Every year I tell myself that I am going to photograph the fireworks on the 4th of July…..and every year it ends up not happening! This year, I finally made it happen and I photographed them in a location that was unfamiliar to me. I spent hours scoping out Havre de Grace, MD on Saturday (so, technically they were 5th of July fireworks) and getting to know the area a bit. Having never been there, all I knew to look for was the Concord Point Lighthouse after seeing photos online – and that particular structure was one of my own photographic goals of the day. To me, lighthouses are beautiful, and I had been wanting to find one that I could get close enough to photograph it. This one definitely made a fantastic subject matter, and with the backdrop of fireworks, the results exceeded my expectations. Havre de Grace is a lovely area and I highly recommend you check it out. I look forward to going back when the crowd is much smaller so I can get an even better grasp of the location.
